Commercial Locksmiths : Lock Replacement & Upgrading
Whether you have lost your keys, been burgled or simply wish to improve the security of your business premises then Yeovil Locksmiths are able to replace or fit all types of lock including:
Rim locks are fitted to the inside surface of the door, and come in several types including dead locks, sash locks and latches, the most common being the cylinder rim lock, more commonly known as a Yale lock after the popular manufacturer.
With cylinder rim locks it is often possible to replace the cylinder part only, either on a like for like basis or by upgrading it with a more secure version.
We would always recommend that you have a mortice lock as well as a cylinder rim lock, as many business insurance companies will not pay out on any claim made where the property has not been secured with a minimum of a 5 lever mortice lock (or multi-point locking system on uPVC doors).
Mortice locks are embedded into the door itself and hence are excellent for use on wooden doors. They are available with either 5 or 6 levers - the more levers you have the harder the lock is to pick.
Mortice locks come in several forms including sash locks, dead locks and night latches.
We are able to fit mortice locks that meet British Standard BS3621, this is the minimum requirement that most business insurance companies require on external doors, however if you are looking to save a little money and secure a less important door then we are also able to fit non-British standard locks.
Cylinder locks pass through your door and then either pass through a lock case that is mortised into your door (most commonly seen in uPVC and aluminium doors) or connect to a rim lock on the inside.
With these types of lock it is often possible to replace just the cylinder, but should the whole system need replacing we will be able to help, whether it is a rim lock or a multi-point locking system on a uPVC door.
We will generally replace on a like for like basis, but we can also supply and fit more secure locks including, either 5 or 6 pin cylinders with anti-pick pins, anti-snap and anti-drill for extra security.
This means instead of having a separate key for each lock you can have one key that will operate all your locks; this will not reduce the security of your premises in any way.
Yeovil Locksmiths are also Mul-T-Lock suppliers and fitters; all our locksmiths are fully trained and experienced in offering advice on these high security locks.
This ingenious innovation is one of the most secure types of lock and offers more anti-pick pins than typically found in other locks as well as being break secure and anti-drill. In addition, the keys can only be cut by a Mul-T-Lock dealer who will require the card issued when the locks were supplied. This means that staff, tenants or anyone that holds a key cannot simply have that key reproduced without your knowledge. They are extremely robust, can be re-pinned and new keys can be cut as required.
These locks are suitable for your office, factory, warehouse, workshop or other commercial premise as well as gates and vehicles - click here to find out more about Mul-T-Lock.
In one in three burglaries entrance is via a window. Business owners should consider fitting high visibility window locks so if a burglar breaks the glass they still cannot open the window and therefore risk injury climbing in through the broken glass.
Window locks should be fitted to easily accessible windows such as those on the ground floor and next to flat roofs and drain pipes.
Remember not to leave the keys on show in the window locks!
